Department Chair's Speech

It is great to be a specialist in a science that permeates every aspect of daily life; Computer knowledge has become one of the basic things and skills that every student must possess.
No less important are reading and writing skills; Computer science has become an essential tool for accomplishing professional, industrial, administrative, social and health work as well, and beyond that, as research and experiments in other sciences have become based mainly on the computer, and it may not be possible to do without a computer.

Despite this diversity and expansion in the fields of computer, and the rapid development in the field of technology, I am pleased to inform you that we in the Computer Department are able to keep pace with this development, and provide innovative solutions in most aspects of education, research and information technology.

The department currently offers a bachelor's degree in computer science, and we seek to offer higher degrees and certificates in the future.
We guarantee a high-quality educational experience through a carefully designed study plan of the basics and cutting-edge technologies.
The department’s graduates have the necessary foundations that enable them to continue in the academic field and obtain higher qualifications, in addition to possessing skills to build, develop and use the latest technologies that enable them to obtain high-quality jobs.
We are proud of our graduates, who are active both near and far. The Computer Department, through its teaching assistants, designs and implements the university's website, as well as automating the work of departments and offices at the university. The graduates of the department work in international technology companies in the United States of America and Canada.
It is truly a great honor to have the leadership of this department with a selection of faculty members, teaching assistants and staff, and we continue to work to overcome challenges and provide the best.
As faculty, teaching assistants, staff and students we feel; We are fortunate to be part of a distinguished section of an ancient edifice in one of the most beautiful places in Libya.

The department currently grants a bachelor's degree in computer science, and the department works with a study plan of approximately 107 hours. These hours contain specialized courses, support courses, and general courses distributed over four years.

About the department

The Computer Department is one of the departments of the Faculty of Science at the University of Derna. The department was established in 1999 as one of the departments of the College of Science before it was joined under the name of the College of Arts and Sciences, and the first class was graduated in the academic year 2003/2002.
The department hosts a group of Libyan faculty members in various computer specializations, and the department tries, through its graduates, to contribute to solving some of the problems facing the various sectors of the state in organizing their work.
One of the department’s goals is to prepare qualified national cadres in the fields of computer, prepare graduates so that they have the ability to continue postgraduate studies, and try to obtain a prominent role in scientific studies and research, as well as keeping pace with the rapid development in the field of technology and harnessing it in the service of the country.
