Faculty of Economics

The Faculty of Economics is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Derna and the largest in terms of student enrollment. It was established in 1991 by Decree No. (745) of 1991 regarding the restructuring of universities, issued on September 18, 1991. Headquartered in Derna, it was originally one of three faculties affiliated with Omar Al-Mukhtar University.

The Faculty of Economics, guided by its vision and mission, is moving steadily toward the future to rank among the prestigious academic institutions locally and regionally.
Since its inception, the faculty has evolved to become one of the most effective and influential colleges in Libyan society. This is achieved through its distinguished academic programs in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Banking and Finance, and Political Science at the undergraduate level. Furthermore, we have launched postgraduate programs starting with the Department of Business Administration, with ongoing efforts to open postgraduate tracks in Accounting and Economics.
The Faculty of Economics is committed to excellence in teaching and research, and to developing educational programs that keep pace with the highest standards of quality in higher education. In pursuit of this, we consistently attract distinguished faculty members across all specializations. Recognizing our role in serving Libyan society, we strive to graduate students equipped with the knowledge and skills required by society and the labor market. Our goal is to empower them to lead the Libyan community, enhance the economic and administrative systems of the national economy, and compete in local, regional, and international labor markets.
